What is Missing In Indian Class-Rooms

Indian classrooms have been upgraded and transformed technically a lot over the last decade. The Smart-Boards, the electronic gadgets, tablets and the smart furniture making the Indian classrooms at par with the others in the world.

But we still need an upgrade beyond Textbook. Our children after passing out from schools, know little about our Legal System, Financial Security, The Social Awareness.

Students are not exposed to the situations to critically examine and put up questions like Why ? How ? and can come up with a solution.

A very important thing that should be included at school level is to develop Empathy. They should cultivate responsibility for society, the underprivileged, and the environment. Tasks like maintaining cleanliness and conserving natural resources should be included in school curricula.

Social Responsibilities like making queue while entering and coming out from public transports, following traffic rules strictly, social etiquettes are some of the things that is missing in our country to a great extent because not taught at the age when it should be.

At school level Learners should be encouraged to be more communicative. Most children suffer in silence. They should be given more opportunity to express their ideas and feelings and be more confident.

Discussions on the topics like what content should be watched on thevinternet and what are the potential harmful content for them, The harmfulveffects of the use of weeds, Alcohol and tobacco and the right age forvthe physical relationship , which the parents found bit difficult to discuss with their kids, must be taken as a part of curriculum so that they do not learn from the wrong sources.

Academics are the core part of schooling. The values at this level clubbed with academics will not only produce successful pass outs but will prepare our future young generation which is confident, empathetic and compassionate.
